Beauty from Barcelona

In October I was lucky enough to go to Barcelona for 5 nights where of course, I got to visit my first ever Sephora. I'll be honest it was a pretty magical experience, we actually went to two, the first was inside a shopping mall and relatively small, but the second was insane. It was it's own huge shop which could be accessed by an escalator going down, or through a swirly plastic slide, cool right?! Then when inside the second one it was massive and laid out incredibly! I swear there must've been every single makeup brand in there, and we spent agesss looking round. It left me seriously wondering why we don't have a Sephora in the UK yet!

Somehow, I actually didn't buy a huge deal of makeup or skincare when I was out there but I did get a few things and of course I couldn't resist the famous Sephora face masks. I picked up a a few of the sheet masks and matching under eye ones to go with them, as well as a rose lip mask that made my lips feel incredibly soft!

As well as the sheet masks I decided to get the Sephora blue clay mask pouch so I could bring it home and get more than 1 use from it. I loved using it and it left my skin feeling super clean and refreshed. I also got the Tonymoly tomato sheet face mask from Sephora although I'm pretty sure you can get these on Beautybay, which I'm still yet to use but I've read so many good reviews on it that I'm sure it'll work a treat.

Then, in terms of makeup I only really picked up a few little things, one of them being this foundation. I saw it in a shop that reminded me a lot of our Superdrug and it was from a brand called Catrice cosmetics which I'd never heard of before, but I just thought I'd take a chance and give it a go. If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure there were only 4 colours in the shade range which is pretty poor but I went for the one that looked closest to my skin tone and gave it a go.

It's called the HD coverage liquid foundation and I have to say, I'm very impressed! I didn't try it until I got back to England but I've worn it all the time since! It's super full coverage which is what I like, and looks really nice and matte on my skin without making me look flat. The only problem I find with it is its oxidisation as it does tend to go quite orange on me some days. However it's not so orange that I can't wear it, but I can notice a visible difference in the shade of my face from when I first apply it to the end of the day.

The other thing I love about the foundation is the way you get the product out. It's a pipette style which I've never had on a foundation before but it actually makes it really easy to apply so you're only using as much as you need. I am however trying to use it slightly more sparingly now or for on occasions where I want a really heavy coverage as obviously it's not very easy for me to repurchase!

The last makeup bits I got from Barcelona were two liquid lipsticks from the brand Flormar which we found in a shopping mall out there. I got the shades 10 Terra Cotta (top swatch) and 12 Tender Terra (bottom swatch), both of which are nude shades, however Terracotta is much more pink toned on the lips whereas Tender Terra, my favourite of the two, is a true nude.

They are insanely pigmented and so easy to apply too with such a creamy formula. I've been wearing Tender Tera a lot recently and its lasting power is amazing and lasts easily through eating and drinking. I only wish you could get these in the UK!

I'm pretty impressed with myself for not buying more beauty bits whilst I was out there but I love all the things I did get my hands on. I can't wait to go on holiday again and find some more new abroad beauties!

  1. Catrice is the sister brand of Essence Cosmetics. They're both sold where I live as they're really popular in Europe but I 100% feel you on the shade range. It's absolutely pathetic. I'm glad you're enjoying your new bits! xx Nikita
