Mac lipstick dupes

Everyone loves a good dupe don't they? There's nothing better than finding an almost exact match for an expensive product you love, that doesn't break the bank.

Mac lipsticks are some of my favourites I've got to be honest. There's just something about the formula and extensive shade range that I can't say no too. The only off put of being their price. They now come in at a hefty £16.50 which is considerably more than what they used to be, so having my own large range of Mac lipsticks isn't really doable.

So this is where the dupes come in. I currently have 5 Mac lipsticks in my collection and have managed to find pretty similar lipsticks to my 3 favourites, and the best part? They're all cheaper!
Starting off with the most classic Mac lipstick of all time I'm pretty sure, we have Velvet Teddy. Now this is probably my most used lipstick ever so I was very keen to find a cheaper alternative for it. So when swatching pretty much my entire lipstick collection, I was pretty chuffed when I came across a sexy mother pucker lipstick by Soap and Glory in the shade Cinnamon Beige which seemed to be a good match.
(L-Soap and glory, R-Mac)
Cinnamon Beige, like Velvet Teddy, is a matte formula. It's also browny orange undertoned nude and feels comfortable on the lips. One of the main things I love about Velvet Teddy is the fact that it's matte formula isn't drying or uncomfortable so I'm glad to have found that in this dupe too. As you can see from the swatches, they aren't identical, but they're pretty close and I actually tried wearing half of each one on either side of my lips and they blended in together perfectly.
Next we have Modesty by Mac. This was actually the first ever lipstick by them I owned and pretty much all I wore when I first got it. It's that perfect 'your lips but better' pinky nude shade. Now I am quite a lover of a pink nude, so finding one that matched this wasn't too difficult.
(L-Rimmel, R-Mac)
I chose the Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in the shade 45 (I do wish these had actual shade names). Now I was pretty chuffed with this one as it's almost an exact dupe. It's got the same creamy formula as Modesty and applies equally well. The lasting power of the Rimmel one was also super impressive and seriously rivalled that of the Mac one. The only slight difference between the two I'd say is that 45 has just a slightly shinier finish to it, but in my opinion that isn't a bad thing at all.
The final Mac lipstick that I've found a dupe for is Whirl. Whirl is a deep berry shade that literally screams autumn. It's definitely a close favourite behind Velvet Teddy for me as I think it's such a flattering and easy to pull off colour, and I'm not someone who ventures out of the nudes much!
(L-Rimmel, R-Mac)
To match it, I found another Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick, but this time in the shade 48. Although annoyingly in the swatches picture they don't look that similar, in real life they are almost the carbon copy in terms of shade. Whirl has slightly more of purple berry undertones and 48 red berry undertones, but all in all they are very similar. They are also the same finish and both surprisingly creamy to apply.

So there we have it, some dupes for some of my favourite Mac lipsticks. Although nothing beats the feel of a luxury lipstick, it's always nice to know there are some budget friendly dupes out there.

I'm hoping that I'll come across some more and I'll be sure to make a part 2 of this post if I do! Do you have any Mac lipstick dupes?
