Barry M liquid chrome highlighter drops

If you follow me on Twitter, Instagram or are a regular reader of my blog, then you'll know that recently I've been having a bit of a highlighter drops obsession. It all happened when Barry M and Makeup Revolution both brought a range of liquid highlighters, similar to the ones by Iconic London which we all drool over daily, (you're lying if you say you don't)!

I of course had to buy a couple from both brands and I managed to get my hands on the Makeup Revolution ones super quickly (thanks Superdrug for free next day delivery to store) so have a post up on them already if you'd like to have a read after this, I will link it here.

So originally I ordered two of the Barry M highlighter drops, At First Light and Precious Pearl, but then after seeing swatches of them on Instagram I came to the conclusion that I really needed the other shades as well, so back on the Barry M website I went! I decided that I knew I wouldn't get any wear out of the lightest holographic shade they offered, but the two darker gold ones, Beam Me Up and Liquid Fortune, just looked to beautiful to resist and so for the second time that day, I was entering my card details in to the website. Sorry bank balance...

So I would describe the shades as follows, Precious pearl is a holographic shade that when the light hits shines a really beautiful pink shade, almost the colour of a pearl as the name suggests. At first light is very similar to Makeup Revolutions Liquid starlight, it shines a really pretty pinky purple shade. Next we have Beam me up, a very yellow toned gold and what I imagine theBalm's mary lou-manizer highlight would look like in liquid form. Finally there's liquid fortune, the deepest of all the shades and a very rich toned gold.
Similarly to how I tested the ones from Makeup Revolution, I firstly tested these out by putting them straight on top of my makeup as a highlighter. I found that a small amount of the lighter shades such as At first light worked really well like this and created a natural looking glow which sat on top of my makeup nicely. However the shade liquid fortune didn't work great like this for me as it's slightly too dark for my skin tone and so putting it on top of my foundation just made it look like I had a line of sparkly brown stuff gong across my face.

Then I had a go with mixing them in to my foundation and applying them before all my makeup just after primer. Both mixing them in and putting them on before worked equally well and gave my skin an effortless highlight. My makeup sat perfectly fine on top of them and still allowed the highlight colour to come through and essentially the more you apply of these, the more blinding your glow.

The shade range on these is good in the sense that I'd say there is one for every skin tone, however with the Makeup Revolution ones there are more to choose from and more that would suit each skin tone.
As you can tell from the swatch photos, not only do these have a beautiful shine normally, but when the light hits them they beam even brighter. Another thing I like about them is if you apply them to your face before the rest of your makeup, they can be sheered out to create the desired glow you want to show up. They're also a great priming base for powder highlights to go on top.

Overall I'm a huge fan of these and think Barry M have really hit the nail on the head with a product we're all wanting right now. For £6 they're super affordable and 100% worth the money! My next hope from them is that they'll widen the shade range even more.
