New makeup for the new me

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram then you may know that my hair recently had a little change and went from being down to about my belly button, to just below my shoulders. This needed to be done as I hadn't had it cut in over a year and half (gross I know) so it was looking pretty ratty. I also wanted to try having it shorter to see if it'd be easier to manage when I go to a festival in the summer.

So I decided that since I was giving my hair a big change up, it was about time I did the same thing with my makeup and try out a new look with some new products. So that's just what I've done! I will warn you now though that I do my makeup in a pretty weird order, so if this seems jumbled to you then that's why.

Firstly I start off by priming my face with the Maxfactor facefinity 3 in 1 primer and priming my eyes with my Mac paint pot in painterly. I then go on to my brows where I first comb through them with a spoulie and then carve them out with my Freedom brow pomade in medium brown which is unbelievably easy to use, and trust me when I say that because I'm awful at eyebrows. To set them in place I then run my Maybelline brow drama in dark blonde through them.

Moving on to eyes I take my Makeup Geek pan in bitten and run it through the outer corner and crease to create a burgundy coloured shadow. Then using the Mua Revalholic eyes palette I take the fifth shade in from the left hand side which is a nice shimmery brown, and apply this all over my lid with my finger as I find this gives the best pigment. That's literally it for eyes so I curl my lashes and finish with two coats of the Technic mega lash mascara.
Face is the next step so I used the Revlon colourstay foundation in the shade buff for this look and work it in to my skin using a buffing brush, I really like this foundation because it offers me a good coverage and reminds me of one of my favourite foundations from Mac, the studio fix fluid. To conceal I use the Maybelline anti eye eraser in light under my eyes to brighten them as it's so yellow toned and then it's he turn of my trusty L.A. girl pro conceal in porcelain to provide some coverage so I apply this under my eyes and to the high points of my face and blend in with a sponge.

To add some shape and colour back in to my face I use my Makeup Revolution ultra sculpt and contour kit in c01, using the bronzer shade to add some definition to my cheeks and warm up my temples a bit, and then the blush shade to give me a natural rosy glow. For highlighter I'm not using the one from the Makeup Revolution palette but instead the L'oreal l'or highlighter as I wanted a much stronger gold highlight for this look.

Lipstick is what of course brings this whole thing together and since I was trying to go for a grunge ish vibe I chose Mac's whirl which is one of my favourite lipsticks and although some might say it's a shade better suited to autumn, I think it's too pretty to not wear all year round!
This is the final look and I added a nose ring (which is fake btw) because I was feeling edgy with my new hair and darker lip haha. I hope you enjoyed and I'll definitely be wearing this makeup ALL the time from now on!

  1. Your new hair is gorgeous, suits you so much! I really need to try the Freedom brow pomade, apparently it's a dupe for the ABHs one. Everyone loves the Revlon foundation but I cannot seem to get on with it, looks flawless on everyone!

  6. You look gorgeous. It's strange how cutting your hair can give you such a new look. I recently cut my hair super short, around about to my ears and I hate it, but short hair really suits you! x
