Mastering the 'no makeup' makeup look

I love full coverage. You will probably never see me without a heavy coverage foundation onsimply because I love the way it makes my skin look..or until now that is! You see, in my eyes my natural skin makes me look dead sort of, my face is naturally quite pale and blotchy red in some places, not to mention usually covered in spots, but that's enough of slagging myself off.

I think my love for a heavy coverage makeup look everyday may be partly to blame for my blemish prone skin though, so in my quest for clearer skin I've decided to tone down the coverage a notch every so often, and thus the 'no makeup' makeup look is born. I'm sure to some of you a no makeup makeup look consists of maybe some mascara and concealer, however like I said, I think I slightly resemble a corpse without a little coverage so I've got a few more bits than just a concealer.

So for those lighter coverage days I switch out my foundation for a bb cream, specifically the Seventeen blemish BB balm in the shade light. This BB cream has spf 25 in it and is not only a hydrating light coverage product, it also claims to improve skin within 4 weeks of use. Because I haven't used this consecutively for 4 weeks I can't tell you whether this is true, however I do love this for how lightweight it is and how it still provides me with enough coverage to make my face all look one colour and slightly more alive. Plus on the back of the packaging it says and I quote "Reveal the magic of flawless skin with this ultimate no makeup makeup" I rest my case.

To add a little more product in my problem areas I then use the Maybelline eraser eye concealer in light because you really can't ask a coverage junkie to just use a bb cream alone! This is perfect because it's light and very yellow toned so it blends in with my skin colour perfectly. Then for brows to just give them slightly more definition I use the Maybelline brow drama mascara in dark blonde to comb over them with. If I was going to recommend one thing from this whole post this would probably be it as I think having your brows look natural but done really makes a difference.

On to eyes, keeping it super simple and low coverage I won't do my usual eyeshadow shebang *cries* and just take a tiny bit of Makeup Geeks eyeshadow in Shimma Shimma on my finger and put it in my inner corner to brighten it up and give the illusion that my eyes are more awake and bigger. Then for long and thick lashes I use the L'oreal mega volume miss baby doll mascara because if you aren't wearing much makeup I think It's nice to have really voluminous lashes.

Something very uncharacteristic for me which I do when I'm going for the no makeup look is skipping out bronzer and contour *cries again* and just using blusher. I think this looks much more natural on me because I don't naturally have chiselled out cheeks, they're more like rosy red. The Seventeen blusher in nude is my favourite for this as it's the most natural blush shade I've ever found, it's that classic your lips but better shade but for blusher.

To finish it because of course we can't miss out the lips, I like to use my Mua lipstick in 14 Bare. It's a really pretty light pink shade that isn't drying and looks like a really natural sheen on the lips. It's also only £1, what a bargain!

Mastering the 'no makeup' makeup look definitely took me some time but I think I've got it down now and although this isn't my personal makeup preference or something I wear everyday, like I said it's perfect now and again when I need to let my skin breathe. Do you prefer a light or heavy coverage?

  11. Bare looks stunning and so affordable. Even on really basic days (like today) I still have to add some contour haha. Today I slapped on some L'Oreal BB cream and some Sleek Medium Contour powder and just left. Love the products you included, thanks for sharing x

  17. The Maybelline eye eraser concealer is my absolute faveeee. But I think I might need to replace it because it runs out so quickly, don't you think? Can't believe that nude lippie is only £1 as well - fab find!
