Brand spotlight: Makeup Revolution

So recently I've seen lots going round in the blogesphere about Makeup revolution, and having tried none of their products for myself before I felt the need to give them a go and tell you what I thought. So I made a cheeky order on Superdrug and chose a variety of items that looked appealing to me, which to be honest was quite a hard choice because all of their products are very intriguing.
So the first and probably my favourite product I have is the Makeup Revolution ultra eyeshadow palette in flawless. This palette comes with 32 shades, some of which are matte and some shimmery and they range from light shades which could be used for brow bone highlight to dark shades which would be great for s smoky eye. All the shades are really pigmented and buttery, and they blend well on the eyelid. For only £8, getting 32 amazing eyeshadows means this is honestly the best purchase I've made in a really long time. Another plus side to this product is the huge mirror that comes with it, I mean who doesn't love a big mirror?
(Top swatch is mystify, bottom is total diva)
The next two things I got were the Makeup revolution lipsticks in Mystify and Total Diva. Mystify is the one in the black packaging and its a peachy pink toned lipstick. The lasting power and application of this lipstick are both amazing, but it does have tiny bits of shimmer in it which I'm not too keen on. But if a slight shimmer doesn't bother you then for only £1 this lipstick is a great buy. The other lipstick I got in the shiny pink packaging, which I think is ace by the way is in the shade Total Diva. This is a gorgeous red which isn't matte or glossy either, its somewhere in the middle but it definitely feels great on the lips. Like the other lipstick this one applies great and lasts for a good few hours when not eating or drinking.
This next product is the Makeup Revolution ultra sculpt and contour kit in ultra fair co1. This kit is absolutely gorgeous and comes with a bronzer, highlight and blusher all for £3.50!!! The blush in this trio is a pink with peachy under tones and in some lights I think it looks like it has a gold sheen to it as well which reminds me of the Sleek Rose Gold blusher. The highlight is a champagney gold shimmer which looks lovely on top of the blush and bronzer, but I did find it wasn't as pigmented as the blush and bronzer. My favourite thing out of the kit though has to be the bronzer. Its really pigmented and blendable and I find it looks great on my cheeks because it isn't orangey like so many bronzers I have tried. I'm just going to put it out there and say I actually prefer this contour kit over the sleek contour kit, and for half the price and a blusher thrown in I think its a great alternative.

The next thing I deided to try was the focus and fix liquid concealer in the shade 01 fairest. Although I think this concealer is the perfect shade for me, I just wasn't a fan. The consistency was just too runny and when I applyed it to my face it seemed really thin. Then by the time I'de blended it in, there was no product left and it hadn't done anything at all. Personally I wouldnt recomend this to anyone unless you were looking for a really subtle highlight for your forehead and nose, but for covering spots its a no go.
My last product was the Makeup Revolution pure pigment in Indirect. This is a loose pigment eyeshadow and I think its absolutely fantastic for the price. It goes on really well with hardly any fall out which is rare for a loose eyeshadow, and it doesn't sheer out and leave you with only glitter on your lids like some I've tried do. The one I chose was a silver champagne colour but they have loads of different shades and all for just a £1. Now that's a bargain if I ever did see one.

So overall all the products I tried were a hit except for the concealer. I'd love to hear if you've tried anything from Makeup Revolution and what your favourite products are. Until next time..

My skin care routine

Hey guys so today I've got my skin care essentials for you. I wish I could say I was a skin care genius and I could recommend you all the products that would work exactly for your skin. But sadly I cant. I've never had a skin care consultation and everything that I do know about my skin is purely based on guess work and a little bit of research.

The first product I use to take my makeup off with and cleanse my face is the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. I just rub this around my face with my fingers and then wipe it off with a warm cloth or flannel. This is a great product for removing even the toughest of mascara and always leaves my face feeling refreshed afterwards.

The next thing I use is the Garnier Micellar water and I just take this all over my face on a cotton pad just to make sure any makeup that my cleanse and polish might have missed comes off.

Next I use my Olay essentials refreshing toner on another cotton pad and swipe this across my face, especially on my problem areas just to keep my skin refreshed and hydrated.

Then I moisturise with the Simple oil balancing moisturiser which helps to absorb excess oils on your face, this is a need for me as my forehead gets extremely greasy!

Finally to finish, I use my Simple kind to eyes eye roll on which just helps to hydrate the skin under your eyes, and god knows I could use some help with that. Then I take my Superdrug Deep action blemish gel and dab some of it on the problem areas of my face.

All of these products that I use are budget friendly and work for my combination skin. If you've got any staple skin care products please comment them below as I would love to try some new things. Thanks for reading.

Top 5 drugstore products.

Hi guys! So for my first blog post I've decided to give you a run down of my top five drugstore products so you can get to know me some more. If you haven't already tried any of these products then I would seriously recommend giving them ago.

My first product is the Collection shimmering bronzer. As you can see this is a very well loved product and I could really do with getting a new one to replace this. I found it again in my make up collection a few months ago after it being there for god knows how long completely forgotten about, but it had already hit pan. So I decided to start using it again because it was clear that I had loved it before, and boy am I glad I did. Its a beautiful bronzed gold shade with a little shimmer in it that doesn't leave your face sparkling in the sunlight, just gives it a natural and healthy glow. I find its best to sweep this product all over your face to warm it up a little as it isn't really dark enough for contour. I use this everyday so I don't leave the house looking like a ghost and I honestly don't know what I would do without it!
My next product is the Maybelline brow drama in dark blonde. Now even though for almost everyone in the entire world eyebrows are the most important thing as they can either 'make or break' your face, I do not agree with this. Shock horror, I don't really care about my eyebrows! I have never had my eyebrows done and the only time I ever do anything to them myself is when I go at the mono-brow I have sprouting with a pair of nail scissors (I would not recommend this as having a pointy object right above your eye isn't the greatest idea and also, one false snip and boom, your whole eyebrow is gone.) Anyway I just don’t have time to be getting my eyebrows 'on fleek' but I do find the hairs on my eyebrows tend to move around a lot and look really messy which bothers me slightly. So when I discovered brow drama by Maybelline it was a god send. It literally takes me 20 seconds to do both eyebrows and I simply brush through them with this and it gives them a bit of shape so all the hairs are facing the right way and it adds a tiny bit of colour. For a lazy person like me, it’s quite simply a gift from the gods!
Rimmel wake me up concealer is a very popular favourite. I’m sure you’ve heard loads of people go on about how much they love it and I’m sorry to tell you that I’m going to do exactly the same thing! I am a Mac pro long wear concealer lover but I’ve got to say this concealer could possibly top my love for that. It’s perfect for both concealing and highlighting, especially along your nose. It’s long wearing and not cakey on the skin either. I’ve heard some people say that it clings to dry patches on their face but I’ve never had this problem, it could however depend on your skin type. So if you’re looking for a new high street concealer you should check this one out for sure.
For some reason, while the hype of Benefit roller lash was going on I couldn't quite bring myself to buy it. I’m not sure why, because normally I'm all for a splurge on make up but for some reason I never bought it. So when I heard about the Maybelline lash sensational mascara and how it was a dupe for roller lash I knew that I had to at least try it, and I was extremely impressed. It lifted my lashes whilst adding volume and separation and best of all it stayed on all day. I've had a problem in the past where mascara comes off beneath my eyes really easily but with this one it doesn't budge. Then when it comes to taking it off at the end of the day, it comes off nicely and I don’t have to rub at my eyes, pulling out my eyelashes in the process just to get it off like I've had with some mascaras. So if you’re looking for a cheaper version of roller lash then give this a try.

My final drugstore favourite is the Sleek eye shadow palette in storm. This is probably my most used palette because it just covers all the shades you could need and it’s very diverse. There are 12 shadows in it, 9 of which are shimmery and then 3 are matte. These being a black, dark brown and lighter brown. The shadows are really blendable and creamy making application extremely easy. My most used shades in it are the first two and the fourth one on the top row. Two of these are different shades of gold and the other is a champagne coloured shimmer which is great for inner corner highlight. I think 12 eyeshadows for only £10 is an absolute bargain and I would definitely recommend the sleek palettes.

I would love to hear what your drugstore favourites are in the comments below and I will definitely give them a try. Thanks for reading.
